My Top 5 Translucent Powders.

  My Top 5 Translucent Powders.

Hello, makeup lovers!!! I recently was inspired to blog about my top 5 translucent powders based on a camera flashback I experienced a few weeks ago. So I know for some you might not understand the make-up term “Baking.” It’s a trick that has been used by drag queens and celebrities for years. After you apply your foundation and concealer, you set it with a translucent powder and let it “BAKE” for about 5-10 minutes.

You might be asking yourself, “why should I “BAKE” my concealer under my eye?” Well, this helps if you have oily skin, going to be taking pictures if you are a model or actress on set, or if you want your makeup to last longer throughout the day. So, I been using translucent powders for about three years now and I love it. At first, I had no clue on how to use it. My first translucent powder was the Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder.

I have some pros and cons about this powder, but before we go into the pros and cons and rate which one is my favorite. I will say this, invest in M.A.C Fix Plus Setting Spray.

When applying these powders to your face, it can become cakey. We don’t want that girlfriend. We want our makeup to look like skin.

Okay now back to my top five translucent powders. Here is my least to favorite translucent powders. Let me know if you tried any of these powders. Also, which one is your favorite?

Pros- The texture is silky and lightweight. It leaves a flawless finish.

Cons- Flashback. It’s not camera friendly. Tip- Don’t apply too much, or you will look like a ghost!

#4 Laura Mercier

Pros- The texture is silky and lightweight. It leaves a flawless finish.

Cons- Flashback. It’s not camera friendly. Tip- Don’t apply too much, or you will look like a ghost!

#3 Laura Mercier

Pros- The texture is silky and lightweight. It’s perfect for all skin tones. This powder has a tint to it. Tip- Don’t apply too much, or you will look like a ghost!

Cons- Flashback. It’s not camera friendly.

#2 Ben Nye Banana Luxury Powder

Luxury Loose Powder 85g/3 oz $25

http://www.stagemakeuponline.com

http://www.ebay.com/bennye

Pros- It’s perfect for medium to dark skin in my opinion. It gives you a highlight under your eye. It sets the areas you highlight well.

Cons- The texture is not silky. It’s not camera friendly.

#1 SACHA BUTTERCUP A.K.A.HOLY GRAIL

  Setting Powder 28g/1 oz $20

http://www.sashacosmetics.com

Pros- It’s camera friendly. It never looks white or ashy in bright lighting. One shade for all skin tones.

Cons- To my knowledge it is not in one of my favorite makeup stores like Sephora or ULTA. This product is only available online. It’s not a con for me but if you don’t feel comfortable ordering makeup online it can be a con to you.

  1. Love love love that you made this post because I am in the market for a powder now. I was thinking about trying the Laura mercier but I def don’t need the flashback because I’m always snapping picks! What’s a good site to get the Sacha buttercup from?
